I would say that I have always had a place in my heart for advocating for orphans and adoption. I would also say that a lot of my passion for doing that comes from having an adopted brother. Just thinking about how different his life probably would have been, and where he would be at today makes me so grateful for him and the decision my family made. One other reason I am so passionate about orphans is because I have seen what kind of life they live, and I want to do everything I can to help them. I have been to Guatemala 4 times with some of my family to visit a church that our church supports. These trips were really life-changing and eye-opening. I was able to see with my own eyes how orphans live on a daily basis. How so many children have to provide for themselves, owning little to nothing. I feel like I have been challenged by these trips, and I want to start doing more with what I have. Because I already have a connection with adoption, I figured I could relate that with orphans for this website. It turns out they are related in so many more ways than I thought, and I am so glad that I chose the difficulty of adopting as my topic. Making this website required a lot of research and learning, and I definitely feel more educated about these two problems. So, now that I know more about the difficult adoption process and how it relates to the growing number of orphans, I am going to do my best to spread that information and get others as passionate about it as I am.

About the AuthorHey everyone, it's Maggie! Here are a few things about me: I am a sophomore in a high school in Northern Michigan. I play sports year round, so I'm usually very busy. I am a part of a large family; I have 3 sisters and 1 brother who we adopted from Guatemala. Having an adopted brother has definitely changed my perspective on a lot of things. I have realized the importance of adoption and I have experienced how life changing it can be, not only for the child being adopted, but also the family that is adopting. Anyway, I hope this website was informative & helped you put things in perspective. Thanks for stopping by! |
